I feel proud of the heritage and tradition that Kalpna has built over the years, thanks to all those who have contributed over the past 40 years. Today Kalpna stands as one of Edinburgh’s most prestigious institutions and a symbol of Traditional Indian Vegan and Vegetarian food. As a vegetarian myself, I am passionate about serving good quality Vegan and Vegetarian food in a very friendly environment and our attempt at Kalpna is just that.

Our story:

Kalpna – Indian vegan restaurant in Edinburgh stands as one of the most famous Indian restaurants since its inception in 1975. During this time it has won several awards for excellence in Indian and vegan food/ vegan breakfast in Edinburgh, UK.

We use only fresh ingredients in our dishes which are sourced locally. Although we have renovated our restaurant, our values remain the same. Our customer’s all-time-favorite dishes continue to be a part of the menu but we have also introduced new dishes which reflect the contemporary style of cooking in India today – a style that embraces the concept of fresh, seasonal and exciting food.

We are a family-run restaurant and are known as one of the best vegan-friendly restaurants in Edinburgh. We have been serving high-quality Indian vegetarian food to the people of Scotland for over a quarter of the century. In fact, many of our customers have been visiting our restaurant since their childhood. Kalpna is often referred to as an institution rather than a Restaurant. We are glad that our customers consider us their first choice for vegan food in Edinburgh.

The owner of Kalpna is very passionate about the vegetarian and vegan lifestyle and our family is dedicated to introducing people to the pleasures of Indian vegetarian food.
